(HARRISBURG) – Three McKean County projects will receive a total of $497,835 in state funds, state Senator Cris Dush (R-25) and state Rep. Martin Causer (R-67) announced today.
“This crucial state funding will assist our local communities in making major infrastructure improvements that will enhance safety and the quality of life,” Senator Dush said. “This will help to improve safety and mobility by providing funds to help with much needed road improvements as well as enhance flood mitigation efforts. I am pleased to be able to work with our local leaders to bring this funding home. This support is essential to making certain that important public improvements are made.”
“Whether we are talking about improving our roads or preventing future flooding, these state grants represent important investments in the safety and quality of life of our residents,” Rep. Causer said. “I am always pleased to support these projects and work with local and state officials to help bring them to fruition and improve our infrastructure.”
Two projects are receiving grants from the Commonwealth Financing Agency’s (CFA) Multimodal Transportation Fund, which provides grants to ensure a safe and reliable transportation system. It is intended to provide financial assistance in order to improve transportation assets and enhance communities, pedestrian safety, and transit service. The projects receiving funding are:
- Hamilton Township – $200,000 for improvements along Gibbs Hill and Bliss Hill roads, which is a heavily traveled roadway that connects state Route 6 to state Route 321. The project will replace 16 crossover pipes, resurface the roadway and construct a crosswalk on Bliss Hill Road for hikers. The total project cost is $328,256.
- Norwich Township – $200,000 to make safety improvements to West Valley Road. The project will reprofile and reestablish drainage on the road in order to restore structural stability. The total project cost is $1.12 million.
The Bradford District Flood Control Authority received $97,835 from the CFA’s Flood Mitigation fund, which is designed to help local entities offset flood prevention. The project will help the authority to complete maintenance and upkeep work in and along the Tunungwant Creek to prevent potential failure of the flood control systems. The total project cost is $115,100.
