Dush: McKean County Group Promoting Locally Grown Foods to Receive $71,500 in Matching State Funds

(HARRISBURG) – Allegheny Hardwood Utilization Group in McKean County will receive $5,000 in matching state funds to help efforts to increase awareness of Pennsylvania wood products, according to state Senator Cris Dush (R-25).

“Pennsylvania has so many exquisite wood products to showcase,” Senator Dush said. “Providing access to samples of various hard woods, this group highlights the quality of woods found here by allowing people to experience the wood. I am pleased they have been chosen to receive these matching funds to help further their efforts.”

The funds will be used to produce PA Hardwood Species Sample Kits that will allow recipients to explore, in tactile fashion, the various colors, grain patterns, hardness and other qualities that are unique to each hardwood species.

The Pennsylvania Agricultural Product Promotion, Education and Export Promotion Matching Grant program was a part of the 2020-21 state budget designed to provide matching fund to programs that encourage and maximize the promotion of Pennsylvania-produced agricultural products.
