Area Summer Camps Poised to Reopen This Year

Harrisburg – Pennsylvania children can once again enjoy the fun and recreation of organized summer activities with the announcement that the Wolf administration will lift its prohibition of summer camps, Senator Cris Dush (R-25) said today.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has released ‘Summer Recreation, Camps and Pools Frequently Asked Questions’ to provide guidance to summer camp operators.

Camps and other congregate activities were prohibited last summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many families depend on summer camps to provide their children with recreation, education, socialization and skills development when schools are not in session. In addition, summer camps are major employers and make significant contributions to regional and local economies.
